College Success

Background

The College Success Program (CSP) provides resources and mentorship for visually impaired or blind college students. This program was created by the Learning Ally team, an organization that aims to increase all students' literacy through research and innovation.

The previous CSP site wasnโ€™t meeting accessibility standards or connecting mentors and students easily. In collaboration with the Lat Long and Learning All teams, I designed an inclusive and easy-to-use site for these students.

Approach & execution

To make the new site accessible for people who are visually impaired or blind, I led the visual design, creating a site that was easily used by screen readers and met Level AA requirements of WCAG 2.1 and above.

I refreshed the Learning Ally digital brand to be more modern and youthful. The site was developed in WordPress; I created a component-based design working with the development to implement the design.

Outcome

The redesign was well received, and Learning Ally was able to white label the site, selling to Envision, providing a broader outreach to students needing this service.
