Background

Boulevardia is a music, beer, and craft festival created by Boulevard Brewing Company in Kansas City, Missouri.

I led the visual design for the website and the UX/UI design for the Boulevardia app. This site/app was collaborative, working alongside Whiskey Design (branding for Boulevardia) and Propaganda3 (UX for website and development).

The website

The website's primary goal was to offer a delightful and captivating experience for purchasing tickets and getting to know the festival. Adapting the brand guidelines for digital, I created the visual design and a prototype for validation.

The website design was tailored to bring the colorful and bold brand to life using overlapping elements, engaging photography, and vibrant colors.

The app

The app design is a more interactive experience for festival-goers. It allows users to plan for the event, see food and drink vendors, and play a festival game. I led the UX/UI and visual design for three years, creating an extension of the website and brand. I incorporated the brandsโ€™ vibrant colors and expressive illustrative style in a way that is clean and easy to use.

Schedule

A schedule of daily festival events that allows users to easily create their own schedule and view details about artists and makers.

Beers

Attendees can browse and search drinks, add them to their wishlist, and mark as tasted.

Scavenger hunt

Festival-goers can answer trivia questions, find images at the festival and post to social media for various prizes.

Outcomes

With over 40,000 festival-goers, generating an estimated $2.975 million dollars for the Kansas City area. The website and app gained numerous awards; see below.
